GAMECOM GC-1 / GC-2 Headset Distortion on PC or Console

 Please try the following steps:

  1.  Make sure the headset 3.5mm jack is fully inserted into the PC or console controller. Unplug headset from the PC or console controller and plug it back it. You should hear a soft “click” which will tell you the jack is firmly in place.
    • If properly inserted into the Xbox controller port, you should see the Audio option in the quick Settings menu.
    • If it is not recognized, it is likely something wrong with the controller's headset port.
  1. Test the headset with another source with a headset connection, such as a mobile phone, tablet, laptop.
    • Play a video or listen to music to check for issues with sound quality.
  1. If the issue is still present, attempt to adjust volume on the headset to reduce distortion (lower volume slightly) or increase volume if needed.
    •  Volume adjustments should be smooth.
    • If volume needs to be reduced to the point where it is too quiet to remove distortion, this may indicate a damaged driver. Let us know and we can provide you with your next steps.
  1. If there is not an issue, the volume settings on the console may be causing issues.

Check your headset on another device

  1. Plug your GameCom headset into your mobile phone or any other device with a 3.5mm headset jack. On some phones you may need to use a Lightning or USB dongle.
  2. Place a test call and if the other person can hear you, there is likely an issue with your controller's headset jack. Try the headset with another controller.
  3. If the headset doesn't work with the other device, there may be an issue with the mic boom. Let us know and we can advise you of the next steps from there.

GAMECOM GC-2 RGB Headset Plug Questions / Audio via USB-A Plug / Color Options

All GameCom wired headsets have a standard 3.5mm/4-pin audio plug for nearly universal compatibility with audio source devices like PCs and gaming console controllers.

Please also note that the USB-A plug on the GC-2 is not enabled for audio. This plug is strictly to power the RGB color ring around the earcups. It has not impact on the audio performance of the headset and it is not an audio path option.

To change the color of the RGB color rings on the GC-2, first the USB-A plug needs to be plugged into a powered USB-A port on your PC. Then simply press the top button on the left ear cup to cycle through the color options. If you prefer not to activate the color rings option, simply leave the USB-A plug disconnected from your PC.
